Your 07-08 Ice Dawg Pee Wees 2nd at State B Tourney
The Pee Wees had a great year capping it off with a second place at the B State Tourney played at the Valley Event Center in Glasgow. The squad played 28 games this year and were 11-14-3 overall, 3-10-3 in Treasure State League play, 3-0 at our home tourney and 3-1 in the State B. The dawgs won 8 of the last 9 games of the year really coming together as a team. Regardless of individual stats, each and every player on the team played a roll in the teams success. Great job on a great season. These young Ice Dawgs will only get better as they continue to develop their individual and team skills.
The 07-08 Glasgow Ice Dawgs Pee Wee squad consist of Harlan Bragg, Harley Eliason, Craig Greenhagen, Luke Gunderson, Jake Kolstad, Keil Krumwiede, Parker Kulczyk, Gage Legare, Blake Mattfeldt, Ryan Padden, Sam Schultz, Conner Simensen and Austin Svingen. These ice Dawgs started their season will four games against Bozeman and two games against Great Falls. Although they did not get a win in the first six games they worked hard and learned a lot. In previous years both Bozeman and Great Falls would have been in the A Division with the Ice Dawgs in the B Division. This season all Pee Wee age teams play in one division with teams being seeded into a State A and a State B tourney at the end of the year based on record. The Glasgow will be hosting the Pee Wee B State tournament the first week end in March 2008.
On December 22, the Dawgs traveled to Billings for two games against the Bulls at Centennial Arena. The first period saw the Bulls score three goals and the Dawgs two in an effort to keep the game close. Padden scored twice with an assist going to Gunderson on the second goal. In the second period the Bulls scored twice more with Krumwiede finding the back of the net for the Dawgs. Krumwiede scored unassisted once again four minutes into the third period making it a 5-4 game with time running out. As the clock ticked down to under ten seconds Eliason came out of his crease, gathered up the puck and passed to Krumwiede who flew down the ice and took the final shot of the game. The puck went wide and the Bulls took the 5-4 win on their home ice. Both teams were called for several penalties, breaking up any flow that was developing making it difficult for the teams to find their rhythm. The Ice Dawgs were out shot 44 to 37 in the game with Eliason making 39 saves in the losing effort.
The Ice Dawgs came out firing on all cylinders in the second game. Krumwiede scored the first goal of the game on an assist from Schultz. Five minutes later Padden scored on an assist from Krumwiede. The Bulls scored with 48 seconds left in the first period, but were countered 13 seconds later as Gunderson scored unassisted for the Ice Dawgs. Second period action saw the Dawgs get two more goals from Krumwiede with Padden getting the assist on both. The Dawgs were out shot in the second, but the defense and net minder came up big, keeping the Bulls off of the score board. The Dawgs continued to shut down the Bulls offense in the third period. Neither team allowed a goal in the hard fought final period. Eliason made 29 save in the 5-1 win over the home team. The entire team worked hard and played well in earning their first win of the season.

The Pee Wee Ice Dawgs traveled to Rockglen, SK to play the Night Hawks on December 29. Due some injuries and players having other commitments during the holiday season, the team was missing several players. Taylor Padden and Wyatt Mattfeldt moved up from the Squirt/Atoms and first year Bantam Daniel Yecovenko, stepped in to round out the Pee Wee squad. The Night Hawks iced a team consisting of a few Pee Wee aged boys and several over aged girls as is allowed by Saskatchewan Hockey. Rockglen scored two goals in the first period and never looked back. The Night Hawks found the back of the net five more times in the second. They would allow one goal in the third, scored by Ryan Padden unassisted, but added three more for themselves. The game ended with the final score 10-1 Night Hawks. The Dawgs were out shot 36-17 in this non league game with Legare making 26 saves in the loss.
The weekend of January 5th the Pee Wee Ice Dawgs will be traveling to Sidney to take part in their annual tournament. On January 19, the Dawgs were scheduled to play Great Falls on the road, but due to lack of ice in their facility, it appears the games will be played at the Valley Event Center here in Glasgow.
